Beverly Hills Bike Shop
This is an independently-owned shop located on West Pico Blvd in Beverly Hills. It has got to be in the running for best overall bike shop in the city. They have a wide selection of brand-name bikes, helmets, and other gear. If you’re looking to buy and have a substantial amount of money to spend, this might be your best choice. They have several rental options, and they do repairs and maintenance.
If you are serious about the hobby, this is the place to go. The employees there love to talk shop. They also have many recommendations as far as the best bike routes and trails through the city. Their passion for the hobby is much in evidence.
Lion’s Bike Shop
Located on West 29th Street, this store doesn’t specialize in high-end bikes, instead dealing in some of the lower-tier brands. That’s by no means a bad thing, though. If you’re budget-conscious, this is a good bet, as you can get a fair deal on a set of wheels that should not set you back all that much. They also have many saddles, locks, helmets, and other paraphernalia. They’re family-owned, and the employees are attentive.
LA has a reputation for excellent bike trails and parks that are perfect for cycling. If you have kids, you can start them young, as cycling passion should begin at a young age. Hopefully, if the young person in your life takes to it, then they will enjoy this method of transportation and exercise for years to come.
